Mainstay Revenue | Recurring Revenue for HVAC Owners

You have thousands of past customers. Almost none of them pay you every month.

Mainstay Revenue builds and runs a maintenance membership program for independent HVAC shops. We set it up under your shop's name, invite your customers while the visit is still fresh, and handle the billing and renewals. Your techs don't have to sell it.

An outdoor HVAC unit mounted on a wall bracket
After a long cooling season. Your crews spent the summer on no-cool calls and changeouts. Every one of those homeowners was glad to see your truck. By next May most of them won't remember your name, and the first hot weekend they'll call whoever comes up first. Unless something turned them into a member while your tech was still in the driveway. We get that running now, so this fall's jobs get the invitation within 48 hours and the spring tune-ups land before the phones go crazy.

How it works

Four steps, start to finish. It walks through on its own.
  1. 1

You send us your customer list

Every home your shop has served, plus what you want the plans to include and what they should cost. One kickoff call and you're done.

  2. 2

We build it under your shop's name

The plans, the sign-up page, the billing. Your brand, your prices, your Stripe account. Live inside 30 days.

  3. 3

The invitation goes out while the visit is fresh

Within 48 hours of every completed job, a text or email from your shop with a link. Then a slower campaign to everyone you've served before. Nobody on your crew has to bring it up.

  4. 4

    Members pay you every month

We take the payments, follow up on failed cards, send the reminders and renewals, and book the tune-ups into your slow weeks. You do the tune-ups and read the monthly report.

Your part

  • Send the list.
  • Pick the plans and prices.
  • Do the tune-ups when they're scheduled.

One kickoff call. That's your time, even in the middle of summer. The busier you are, the more invitations go out.

Our part

  • Build, invite, bill, chase, remind, renew, schedule, report.
  • No hardware, no app for your crew, nothing installed in anyone's home.

What your customer sees

A text from your shop, a day or two after the job. They tap the link, pick a plan on their phone and pay by card or Google Pay. It renews every month until they cancel.

Questions you probably have

Tap one to open it.
How does the 15% work?

It's added on top of the price you set, so the homeowner pays it and you keep your full plan price.

Example on a $25 plan
The homeowner pays$28.75
You keep$25.00
We keep$3.75

The payment goes into your own Stripe account. Once a month we bill you our share, along with the $45.

When do my customers get the invitation?

Within 48 hours of every completed job, while the visit is still fresh and the yes is easy. Everyone you've served before gets a slower campaign over the following months. A homeowner whose AC has run fine all year isn't thinking about a plan. One who watched your tech leave on Tuesday is.

What does it cost me if nobody signs up?

Nothing for the first 90 days. After that it's $45 a month until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime.

We're slammed every summer. How much of my time does this take?

One kickoff call and a customer export from your software. We build it while you're busy. The invitations start going to your jobs the day it goes live, and every job that happens before then is a member you didn't get.

You're not in my town. How does this work?

Everything happens on the phone and on video. One kickoff call, your list comes over as an export, and we build the program inside your own accounts. Your customers only ever see your shop's name. If you decide to go ahead, you sign the agreement from your office.

Why only ten shops on these terms?

I build each program by hand and watch it closely, and ten is what I can do well. The founding shops get the lowest price I'll ever offer because they help me prove it.

Will you sign up my competitor too?

No. We take one shop per market. Once you're in, no other shop in your service area can get this from us. I'll tell you on the call whether your area is still open.

Who owns the customer list and the members?

You do. Everything runs in your accounts, under your brand. If you ever leave, your members go with you.

I already have a maintenance plan. Do I need a new one?

No, keep it. The usual problem isn't the plan. It's that offering it depends on busy techs remembering to bring it up. We run the part that puts it in front of every customer, right after the job.

Estimate your number

Move the two sliders. The math assumes a $25 a month plan, which is the part you keep.

Every home your shop has served.

Your guess. Try a low number and see if it's still worth a call.

Members200
You keep each month$5,000
You keep each year$60,000
Our fee after 90 days$45 a month

Added to your business value$120,000 to $180,000

On business value: a buyer pays more for a shop with a recurring maintenance book. This uses 2 to 3 times the yearly recurring revenue as a round assumption, not a promise. On the call we'll run it from your actual list.

Not counted here: the shop that maintains a system is first in line when it needs replacing.

Who you'd be working with

I've spent my career on the business side of HVAC, across the counter from shops like yours. I've seen what makes one shop worth more than another the same size, and predictable recurring revenue is near the top of the list every time. Most shops leave it on the table. I built Mainstay to close that gap.

I take on a small number of shops at a time and work with each one directly, by phone and video.

On the call, bring a rough customer count. I'll show you what a membership book would bring in and what it adds to the value of your business.
